wuauclt.exe stuck on...

Gordon J. Rattray

Hi there,

Windows XP and the "wuauclt.exe" is stuck on in the task manager after boot
up. It makes the processor run at 100%. I can end the process manually and
that takes care of it for a while, then it comes back on again.

How do I get rid of it so I can make the computer run normally again?

Thanks,

Gordon

It is a Windows Update AutoUpdate background process which checks with
Microsoft website for updates to the operating system.

The wuauclt.exe file is located in the c:\windows\System32 folder.

Sometimes it could be a a virus, spyware, trojan or worm using the same
name as MS client to fool the user! I suggest scan the system to be
sure.
