Need HELP re: SERVICE PACK 2 (wuauclt.exe keeps appearing)

I forgot to change the automatic update setting, and XP began the
Service Pack 2 update process.

It HAS NOT been installed, but I keep getting the "updates are ready
for your computer" icon at the bottom right, and wuauclt.exe keeps
appearing in in task manager.

I do not want to install SP2. (causes problems with my work-related
programs)\
I appear to be halfway through the download/update process.

Can anyone tell me how to delete the wuauclt.exe and stop my Windows
XP from trying to get me to install the SP2?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan
