Wrong wallpaper images

My PC is running XP Home SP2. Desktop wallpaper for Windows XP is
supposed to come from the C:/Windows/Web/Wallpaper folder.

However, just today I noticed something peculiar. If I right-click on
my desktop, choose Properties, then Desktop, there is a listing for every
image on my hard drive. I don't understand why they are listed there.

If I visit the Wallpaper folder, all those extra pics are not listed.
Just the default photos plus a few I manually added. How do I remove all
these extra background images from the background list? Or in other words,
how do I force XP to only list background images from the Wallpaper folder?

Windows does not fetch image files only from the /Web/Wallpaper folder.

Windows XP fetches image files from the following paths:

BMP Files from C:\WINDOWS

BMP, JPG, GIF, JPE, DIB, PNG, HTM files from the following locations:

C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper

Up until this morning, the XP desktop wallpaper choices was only
listing images from the Web/Wallpaper folder. Why suddenly would it change
today?

Actually it looked only in the Windows\Web\Wallpaper and Windows folder until - - - You ask it to
browse.
From then on, you cannot stop it from looking in the other locations. (Even with a repair install).
Because of this fact, I suspect there is a very hidden key in the registry that gets triggered.
It sure would be nice to find that key.

I have no idea since I can't see your computer. However, the behavior
(where images are fetched from) that both Rock and I gave you is the
standard XP behavior. There is no way for us to know why your computer
was behaving otherwise.
