WORDPAD is now missing

I have Windows XP Home. This week I noticed that Wordpad and Calculator were
missing from the available programs.
I found how to get Calculator back using Control Panel/Add or remove
progs/Add or remove Windows Components, but Wordpad is not shown as being
available to add.
There are Wordpad files in files in c:Windows/I386 but I haven't touched
these in case I ruin them.
Is anyone able to advise me, please, how to get Wordpad again? Thank you.

Hi

What happens if you type

wordpad

from Start>Run. Does the Wordpad screen appear?

Ramesh, thank you. I downloaded the file and unzipped it but then the
computer couldn't find the file wordpad.exe. It did find the file uninstall
wordpad.exe but I told it to ignore that.
I found Wordpad on the Start menu but as I clicked it, it told me that it
cannot open the file Wordpad.EX_ as it needs to know the program that created
it and helpfully directed me to a MS page and then by entering EX_, found
that it is a compressed file etc, etc. But not a lot use (to me).
Can you suggest another avenue, please?

Will. Thanks for your interest. I tried typing "" in the run box but it says
