Word Documents won't open

All of sudden after 6 years I can't open my word documents. Box appears
saying: "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing
this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel."
I've tried all the suggestions and nothing's working. Please help.

Only a couple of things come to mind. Did you recently reload your operating
system (Windows)? In that case you normally have to reload your
applilcations.

Could you have possibly removed the software in "Add/Remove programs" in the
control panel?

Has someone been tampering with the file associations in Explorer? Normally
applications automatically set up those associations when you load them, but
can be changed later. Try right-clicking on the xxx.doc file and click on
"open with" then select MSWord. If Word is not one of the choices, you'll
probably have to reload it.
