WinXP Home Ed and Office XP T&S Ed. Japanese IME

Charles

Does ANYONE know of a problem using the Japanese IME in a
Windows XP Home Edition and/or Office XP Teachers and
Students Edition environment? I'm running the Japanese
IME on WinXP Pro and Office Pro have have NO problems on
my computer, but my parent's computer doesn't display and
function the Japanese IME very well on Home or T&S
version. It would seem that using either Office XP
versions do NOT make a difference, since I tried both on
the same computer, but I was wondering if the OS versions
might make a difference.

No difference. It's possible the Japanese IME was not installed
correctly on your parent's computer. Once an IME has been installed,
it's next to impossible to remove it without re-installing the
operating system. What I suggest is for you to go the web site I've
listed below and go over the steps for correctly installing Asian IMEs
in XP. One thing that will result in an incorrect installation of an
IME in XP is downloading the (Japanese) IME from the MS web site
rather than installing from the XP CD. The downloadable IMEs are for
Win9X not Win2000 or XP.
