WinXP does not start after upgradind AMD processor

After upgrading from an AMD Athlon 1.2 GHz to
an AMD XP 1800+, my Windows XP Pro does not start:
it keeps restarting before showing the windows XP
logo.
It only works under safe mode. The new processor
have been successfully recognized by the BIOS and
under the My Computer properties.
Does anyone know what to do to solve this problem?

Daniel.

is it heat? do you have a heat sink FIRMLY attached with
a good fan?

if that doesn't do it, clear the bios (either with a
jumper on the board, or remove the coin battery for a half
hour). first, you can try "restore default settings" in
the bios.
