AMD Athlon XP 2000+ (1.67Ghz) reported as a Duron processor

I have recently upgraded my rather old pc and dropped in a AMD Athlon XP 2000+ (266Mhz FSB, clocked at 1.67Ghz). It's all working fine, but for some reason Windows XP is reporting the processor as a Duron not an Athlon. It IS an Athlon (the BIOS reports it as an Athlon [Asus A7M266 revision 1007 if your interested], and so do many diagnostic / probes) but I can't get Windows to recognise it correctly. Has anybody got any ideas (I have tried 'updating' the driver but this does not do the trick). Ta, Paul D

Paul, is it running at 1.67? Try Sisoft Sandra or www.belarc.com
See what they say.

Paul, you may need a Bios update.

Cheers, my BIOS is up to date (1007 is the latest revision). It's all fine on the hardware front -> only Windows seems to have a problem with it....
