WinXP - Cannot copy files (Please help!)

After installing WinXP on a partition it proceeds to a screen where it says
it is copying files to hard drive, after so long it will come up with an
error message that it cannot copy a certain file, and gives you a choice to
retry or continue. No matter how many times you retry, it will say it cannot
copy it - forcing you to go on. There's anywhere from 10-25 files that it is
unable to copy - depending on which partition you try to install it under.
Here's the thing I found confusing: Depending on which partition you install
under, certain files may not have copied with FAT, but will with NFTS (or
something) and vice versa.

After it copies the files that it can, it proceeds to the setup screen but
comes up with all sorts of errors of not being able to find files, and it
goes in an endless loop.
