Windows Setup cannot copy files

I'm having trouble installing Windows XP Professional on my computer. I am
using a brand new full-version CD, but, after I boot from CD and re-format
the partition on the hardrive (through the Setup), the file copying process
always stops (usually when it's at about 82% complete) and says that a file
cannot be copied. It's not always the same file and, sometimes, if I retry it
works. However, from this point on, this happens with many files and there
are always about twenty that I have no choice but to skip by pressing "Esc."
Again, the files are different every time. I've tried using a different CD,
thinking that it could be a bad CD, but have the same problem. The Setup gets
to the reboot stage, but it freezes in the installation step after the reboot
with "36 minutes" remaining.

I'd greatly appreciate any ideas or advice you could give me!

Utilize a different CD drive...
Test your memory for problems...

Well, I tried using a different stick of memory and it installed fine. Thanks
for the idea . . . I would never have tried that without your advice!
