While I agree with your general sentiments on this issue, it was never
legal to dual boot an upgrade OS and the qualifying OS (nor should it
be, IMHO). If both OS's require activation, MS has the ability to
prevent it.

This is terrible news. As a frequent MS beta test driver I rapidly found the
limit of allowed non-phone-call allowable reinstalls of XP. This means I'll
have to make a phone call every time I want to reinstall Vista Ultimate from
the beginning. Since I plan on trying it as both the host OS and on a Virtual
PC hosted in several configurations with Server2003 I'm pretty discouraged
about new new MS Operating Systems. So I should ask how many reinstalls can
you do with the full version before you hit the "PhoneCallRequiredToActivate"
Wall with Vista Ultimate Full version? It seems like Microsoft is determined
to make other platforms look more inviting to students studying for
professional credentials. I've already sworn off beta testing on the Windows
Platform.

Can you install Ultimate and Business Retail on a Virtual Machine? MS seems
determined to shoot itself in the foot if the Home Premium won't go on
Virtual Machines. What if you want everyone else in your house to use a VM,
but you use a business OS like either Ultimate, Business,( or Server 03 with
your own copy of Ultimate on a VM)? I definitely prefer having the OS I'm
using and the access to the real hardware strictly under my own control. How
on earth is anyone going to be able to lay out virtual networks before
transplanting them to actual hardware if Vista does not install to VMs?

it just says NOT SUPPORTED. not that it will not work.
only constraint using VPC2007 is not 64 bit guest support.
you have to use vmware to get 64 bit support.
also there is limited usb support in VPC2007.
