Windows shut down options

I have another question

After formatting my hard drive and reinstalling XP, I use the Classic Start
Menu to shut down and restart XP. After going to Start-->Shut Down, a window
popped up which has the options to Shut Down, Restart, Standby, and Log Off.
There is not a pull down menu to select these options, but just Icons which
show these options. You click on the icon that represents the option that
you want.

However, after installing all of the security updates and program updates,
the Shut Down option changed. I now have to use a pull down menu to select
Log Off, Shutdown, Restart, and Standby. How do I make the Shut Down Options
go back to the way I first described them?

Thanks,
Maurice

Control Panel, User Accounts, Change the way users log on/off. If its
already set to use the welcome screen, change it, reboot and then change it
back. Reboot again if needed.

See "How to Change the Logon Window and the Shutdown Preferences"
