Windows: Middle-click on taskbar to close programs?

Middle-clicking programs in the taskbar could close them.

This would be consistent with the new IE7 beta:
Left-click opens tabs and middle-click closes tabs.

It would also create a quick way to clean up the taskbar, for those of us
who frequently open several (if not dozens) of windows.

Only if it can be completely disabled as inadvertently closing a program
without saving changes tends to really annoy folks.

I agree, this should be an option that can be turned off. A good place for
this option would be in the Taskbar and Start Menu properties.

I also agree that this should not be a force-window-shutdown, it should
simply activate the normal Window - Close command. In most applications,
this command warns you if there is unsaved data, and asks if you want work
saved.
