Windows Mail

Peter

I am receiving, but cannot send email. I have confirmed with the service
provider that I can go to their web mail site and send mail. So it is not a
problem with their servers. This problem has occurred sporadically in the
past.

Suggestions?

Star a new thread of your own. This one is over a month old.
When you do start a new thread, post the error message, verbatim.
Otherwise no one can help you.

The web server is often separate from the POP/SMTP servers, so the
fact that webmail works for you doesn't prove anything except that you
have the correct username/password credentials.

That's not the complete error message. We can't do much with just the
error number. Right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it
into a reply here.

This is the full error message............

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject
'Update', Account: 'pop-server.insight.rr.com', Server:
'smtp-server.insight.rr.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 Invalid
recipient: <[email protected]>', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server
Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

I tested that address and got essentially the same error message:
"550 5.1.1 - Invalid mailbox: (e-mail address removed)"

So, the recipient apparently closed his account with RoadRunner.

Regarding the first (sending) error:
If your email address ends in @insight.rr.com, why aren't you using the
corresponding SMTP server, smtp-server.insight.rr.com?

Regarding the second (receive) error, try using pop-server.insight.rr.com
as the incoming server.
