Windows Mail - VISTA has quit working.
When you hit "send/receive" It comes up with the message "receiving message
1 of 14"
Then it times out and throws this error message:
Account: 'mail.thismomentpublishers.com', Server:
'mail.thismomentpublishers.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Error Number: 0x800CCC19
1) I have removed my virus protection (AVG-free),
2) Repaired Windows Mail in Windows Live
3) Deleted and re-added my eMail account.
My service provider says the problem is in my client, and I can pull my
eMail up in their web-mail service. Also, I can still send messages.
Any Ideas as to what to try next? thanks,,reg...

That symptom typically indicates a 'stuck' email on the server.
Log in via webmail (using your browser), sort the messages there by date,
delete all the older ones you already have downloaded, plus one more.
Try Windows Mail again.

If your mail provider doesn't offer webmail access, you can accomplish
the same thing at http://mail2web.com.

See www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx You need to backup the relevant registry
keys and files and then when restoring to the new machine, first backup and
then delete those registry keys prior to opening WinMail and then make sure
you put the message store in the exact location indicated under the Windows
Mail registry key with the value "Store Folder". Then it should work as
before on the older machine.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did check out mail2web, which is nicer than
the web interface my service provider has.
However, this did not fix my problem. Windows update installed Windows Live

What Windows Live application(s) did Windows Update "install"? What Windows
Live application(s) were installed before Windows Update "installed" the
most-recent version(s)?

In any event, I don't think installing or updating Windows Live applications
would cause this problem. Assuming you've removed all messages that have
already been downloaded into Windows Mail from the webmail page's inbox, the
oldest message that have NOT been downloaded is probably causing the
problem, so delete it then try again.

Windows Live (whatever) isn't installed via Windows Update.
You have to intentionally download and run the installer.

Wildfern, your AVG antivirus was probably installed with its default install option.
If so, uninstall it, then reinstall, but select 'custom' install, which then
allows you to unselect installing its troublesome email scanning module.

While AVG is uninstalled, try Windows Mail again, just to verify that
the culprit has been found.
