Windows Mail on a network

Pete

I have a router in my home creating a home network. I am running windows
mail on a Vista operating system. I have no problem sending and receiving
mail but my desktop and laptop are totally independent of each other in the
mail program on the same email address. They do not sync at all. How do I get
Windows mail to sync in my network?

Pete,
If you Mail acct offers IMAP service, set the acct up in both machines as an
IMAP acct. Which will be the easiest. It will share the server folders such as
Inbox, Sent Items, etc... On both machines.

For POP3 accts:
In the Mail program on each machine> Select the acct> Properties/Settings> Go to
the account advance settings> And check the setting to leave messages on the
server. On one of you machines, also add the setting to delete the message from
the server after XX days. Depending the size of the Inbox that your ISP/Mail
service allows, you may want to set it for at least seven (7) days, maybe more.
This will allow you time to check mail on both machines, before the message is
removed from the mail server.

Be aware that any new or reply messages you send from one machine, will only
show up in the Sent folder on the PC you sent it from. The only two (2) work
arounds I can think of:
1. Is to add the BCC: Line to the message, and add your email address to the
outgoing message, or reply. Will cause duplication on the sending machine.
2. Use the Import Messages feature of the Mail program, and Import the Sent
Items folder and it contents from the other machine on a regular basis. And then
handle the duplicate messages.
