Can no longer receive mail on 2nd computer

B

Beth

I receive mail on my desktop with Windows XP and Outlook Express. Until
recently, I have also been receiving the same mail messages (having been
saved on my server) on my laptop running Windows Vista with Windows Mail.
All of a sudden Windows Mail is indicating I have "no new messages" yet my
desktop is still receiving new mail. Sending mail is not a problem. Any
ideas?
Thanks!!!

Perhaps the desktop computer is deleting messages from the server.
If both computers are checking the same email account, whichever
one completes its email download first will make those emails
unavailable to the second PC. To fix that problem, go to Tools,
Accounts, select your mail account, Properties, Advanced,
select "Leave a copy of messages on server."

Repeat the above on the second computer.

1. On both computers:

=> WinMail & OE Tools | Accounts | Mail | [account] | Properties | Advanced
| Delivery | Leave a copy of messages on the server (check/enable)

WinMail & OE Tools | Accounts | Mail | [account] | Properties | Advanced |
Delivery | Delete from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items' (set as
desired)

2. On only one (1) computer:

WinMail or OE Tools | Accounts | Mail | [account] | Properties | Advanced |
Delivery | Delete from the server after XX days (check/enable & select
appropriate number)

Same issue as posted in the other thread whereby Beth's original post is in the WM
group and you answering Beth with a crosspost from the OE group and repeating Beth's
post
In other words Beth multiposted and you returned one of the multiposts with the
exact same posting under Beth's post like you would be replying to her

There goes the errant crossposting again. Had the OP posted there to
begin with, you'd be bitching that it was OT there. What a flake!

I only saw one (1) post by Beth (in Vista Mail). I, however, crossposted my
reply to OE General as she cited OE/WinXP in her post.

You could provide assistance to others using the procedures you consider
best, thereby providing good examples for others to follow. You have shown
an excellent ability to criticize. You can impress people by showing how to
be tolerant, which the regulars here do very well. You obviously don't want
to get recognition however since you either have not posted here recently or
(more likely) use a different name each time you post. The number of recent
negative posts such yours here are nearly certainly all from you using
different names.

I seriously doubt you will spend the time to actually help very much.

That depends on the definition of "feed the trolls". There are some people
that only want to criticize and complain and/or make trouble. I discontinue
responding to people that obviously are like that. It is especially
important to avoid negative emotional words; the type where people intend to
hurt. I especially don't want to be involved in a long unproductive
conversation.
