Hello Everybody,

I believe that some of you may have already experienced this problem
and have also successfully resolved it.

OS: Windows 2000 Pro
Component: Windows Explorer

It is all fine, except one problem. This has appeared only recently.

1. I start the Explorer.
2. It loads normally.
3. It displays the "My Documents" folder.
4. On the left hand side, I see the heading "My Documents." Further
below, I also see "See Also" and below that "My Network Place" and "My
Computer."
For my lack of knowledge of terminology, I will say that when I click
on say, "My Computer," the Explorer should automatically switch to
another view and display the Drive Volumes, C: D: etc. That was
normal.

However, since recently, when I click on "My Network Places" or "My
Computer" there is no response.

How to restore or repair the above to the original status, other than
Re-installing the entire Windows 2000 Pro.

All advice will be highly appreciated.

After alot of work I found out that the cumulative update
for IE6 is the cause of this problem. It shows up in
add/remove programs as "Internet Explorer Q824145".
Removing this will allow those 2 links to work again. I
am sure there is one specific update for IE that is
causing the issue but I don't have the inclination to find
it.

Dear Gorbisloth,

I have had a variety of advice as to solving the problem. But yours is
the only one that worked. Thank you. It did save me a lot of trouble,
reinstalling the OS, and all the accompanying applications.

Thank you once again.
