Windows could not search for new updates

Hi,

I've set my Windows Update to auto and one day realized I've got at least 30-40 failed updates with:

Error(s) found:
Code 8000FFFF

I contacted Microsoft and after 1mth of several unsuccessful solutions, I was told my they will archive
the service request as Not-Resolved.

So now I can't do any Windows Update at all and the Control Panel shows:

Most recent check for updates: Never
Updates were installed: Never

Is reinstalling everything, including all my applications and settings.... the only option left for me?

TIA
John

try opening a command and type (exactly) SFC /scannow This will reinstall everything to the default settings

1: Open up "Control Panel" and navigate your way to "Programs and Features".

2: Click "View installed updates" on the left hand side.

3: Find the update KB929777 and uninstall it.

4: Attempt to install the update again in Windows Update

5: Once successful, restart your PC.
