"Windows cannot find "regedit"....Make sure you have typed correct

I try to run regedit and get the message in subject line.
It does not say disabled, or anything like that.
I tried a few different fixes, but nothing works.
Keeps saying "cannot find".

Not sure when this started. Recently installed Norton360, but don't see how
this could be causing a problem. Also have done various Spyware scans.

Even tried entering from a Run/CMD process.....No luck.

Can anyone PLEASE help. Thanks, Gene

I'm leery of doing a system restore. Too many things could be affected.
Thanks, though.

I found a "backdoor" way of getting there. Did a "Search" for "regedit.*"

It showed up under C:i386 . (????)
Copied it to desktop and only have to click on it and registry opens up.
Now, if I could only remember why I was trying to get in there anyway.

As a matter of interest, did you do a search of the hard drive for *Regedit.exe*.

If you're sure it's not virus related and only missing perhaps you might want to try SFC.

Thanks, as I mentioned in my previous post I did think to do a regedit.*
search and sort of solved the problem.

I ran the SFC with no problems showing up, but regedit still did not show up
when I did a new *run*.

As a side question (and maybe the root of this problem) when I finally did
get to look at my registry a *funny* entry showed up.

I was looking for
*HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\*
and I did find it.

BUT just before it was this entry: *Curre ntVersions* (PLEASE NOTE
MIS-SPELLING/SPACING after the E) This folder only had a couple of
sub-folders that also seem to be in the correct spelled version that follows.

Do you think this might be an issue?

Many thanks, Gene

That's a possibility.
