Windows 2000 Pro & the error message re- msconfig

Mark

My O/S is W2K Pro. I got an error message the other day saying:

"Cannot find the file "msconfig" (or one of its components.)
Make sure the path and the file name are correct and
that all required libraries are available"

I noticed in one of the posts placed by Bruce Chambers of DragonByte
Computing that he said, among other things, that:

"MSConfig is/was a Win98/Me utility, brought back in WinXP,
which is also targeted at the home consumer
market. There was no equivalent utility included with WinNT/Win2K. ..."

This was good news to me when I read it. Actually very good news. However,
a question remains....If msconfig was not designed into the W2K O/S, then
why am I getting an error message indicating that msconfig can't be found?
Looking forward to some insight...Mark

You didn't tell us the circumstance. Possibly you type "msconfig" in the
"Run" box? Or some other process is/was calling it.

Hello,
Probably you have a 9x third-hand software that calls the msconfig without
checking your OS version (probably build before 1999).
Of course, you should let us know the circumstances, if you don't find the
"guilty" app.
I hope this would help.
