Windows 2000 Accessibility and Deletion Error

Hey.

Please help me to delete a file from the hard-drive of a PC running Windows
2000.

The file name is too long, somehow. I was able to save it and move it
around, but I cannot copy or cut it to another hard-drive, nor can I delete
it or send it to the Recycle Bin.

If I try to move it or rename it, nothing happens. But, if I try to delete
the folder where that file is located, I get the message:
"Cannot delete <name of that damn file goes here>: Cannot find the specified
file."

Thanks in advance.

Give this a try: http://www.purgeie.com/delinv/ (supports Windows 2000), or
try booting to Safe Mode and renaming/deleting the file.

Failing that, see if this http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ works, although
it doesn't soumd to me like it will, from the symptoms you describe.

This is an XP newsgroup - future questions should really be directed to a
Windows 2000 one, eg microsoft.public.win2000.general

Thanks a million for the help!

Sorry about posting in the XP newsgroup, but the 2000 is really hard to
find. (If I go to "Older versions", I see only 95, 98 and ME. But I'll try
your direct link the next time.)
