window xp not booting

error message says file corrupt or missing
\system32\config\system
files got corrupted probably while loading games

1. can i boot using a windows 98 cd
i could get c: using this cd

2. i have another computer with windows xp
can i copy the missing files
if yes how
i am not an expert

3. what else to do to bring up the system
