Win Explorer window display is null

My Windows Explorer seems to work OK except that the files window is blank
(well, not exactly: there's a little square with a dot in the middle in the
upper left corner). The Folders, History and Search windows look OK. This
just started happening. Am I missing a dll? What's going on?

Thanks,
Dave

when you click a drive or folder in the All Folders pane (the left pane) in
Windows Explorer, its contents are not be displayed in the right pane. There
is a small box with a dot in the middle, in the top left corner of the right
pane. View was set to large icons, 'Ctrl++' did not work. Any ideas?
