Using the minimise facility on top right of Outlook screen shuts the
programme down, how do I stop this please (problem unique to Outlook)

Are you sure it's not minimizing to the system tray? Is Outlook.exe still
running in the processes if you look at the task manager?

No it doesn't. It hides the handle on the Taskbar, but you'll see that the
Outlook icon still appears in the Notification Area. That means Outlook is
still running. RIght-click that icon and uncheck "HIde When Minimized".
