Weird playback in wmp9

I'll explain the problem first. When I play a video in
WMP9, there is very weird playback. I KNOW the video will
be about 5 minutes long, but it will only say it's a
53second video, or a 1 minute video etc. If I let it play
through that first minute, after that the video only plays
one frame every 20 or 30 seconds. If I click on the thing
and move the video position to anywhere, it'll play what
is supposed to be at that point. It's a very hard problem
to explain.. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I think this may be a codec problem, so first I'm going to
ask is there a way to uninstall ALL codecs AND Windows
Media Player 9. I've been looking for an uninstall but
haven't found anything yet. I think it's a problem with
codecs because these videos play fine with RealOne player,
but I prefer Windows Media Player over it.. Thanks ahead
of time!

It seems like you may need a new codec. Like the previous poster said, if
these are all DivX videos and you have an older codec, they may not play
back properly. DivX updates their codecs regularly frequently, plan on
installing and reinstalling your DivX codecs atleast once every 6 months to
keep up. Find out what the codec is by examining the video preferences and
go DL the latest codec of that type (from where ever the codec came from).

Thanks.. I'll be replying here shortly to say whether or
not it worked. The files in question are mpg files, I
thought DivX only worked with AVI's?

Got the newest DivX codec. No luck. It's just an mpeg
file.. Anyone know where I can get the latest of mpeg
codecs? Thanks!
