Need to access PST folder (backup old mail items, stored on mobile USB
harddisk) when away and only have access to mails through WebAccess. I see no
way to "open" a PST file from within WebAccess. Is this possible at all ?

No, it's not possible. Outlook Web Access shows only the data in your Exchange mailbox.
