W2K hangs at Starting up

Ivan

Can anybody help?
I get to the "Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" screen
and at the bottom it says "starting up..." and a progress
bar goes to the end and just hangs. Is it the Hard Drive?
Its IDE no scisi card. Have a Matrox g200 video card.

Thank you

use usual troubleshhoting techniques - boot to floppy (or cmdcons if setup)
to see if hdu is ok etc

Thanks for your help Chris.
I just figured out what the problem was.
It needed an updated video driver.
I just installed the latest one and the PC is rebooting.
Success I am able to logon.
Thanks again Chris.

I had the same problem. took out the g200 video card.
tried a GeForce 2. same thing happened.. rebooted with
startup disks. everything ok... I put back the Matrox g200
and still works good... (so far)

I am having the same problem and was wondering how you update the video driver if you cannot get the system to come up? Any help is appreciated
