I also think it's a step in the right direction. Still there are some
problems.
On my system it loads and shuts down WAY quicker than Win XP Home SP2.
Also nice.

I thought Vista has cutting edge graohics, but checj this out! -

I think I will not be upgrading soon...

Guys,

when some one is giving some views, plz dont make him not write nor speak
ever your native language. Think if it is not his native language, we are
not running a school to correct the spelling mistakes people make. I
strongly condemn these types of comments here.

Yep start up and shutdown is faster.. just all the rest in between the start
up and shutdown is slow! LOL

Vista will be able to do that with 3rd party software added...

in otherwords the display engine can do that, but they left almost
all the effects out of the GUI.

HOWEVER Linux with XGL can work on older cards....

Vista needs the new cards to be able to do it...

its a scam to get people to buy new hardware....

technologically it is possible to do many things with directX 8

Yeah, because Microsoft makes so much money selling RAM and video cards!

Oh wait.....

Vista is terrific. The OS has changed for the better in very substantial
ways, but the ability to find things quickly and just get on with my work is
at the top of my list.

Rumour has it that Stardock and the like will be doing some far-out
eye-candy stuff with Vista.

Lol... man I can say that you are totally delusional... are you taking drugs
or something?

Working on vista makes me nausious... its horrible.. and the search is the
worst ever implemented on windows.. its worse than the stupid dog on XP!

I can say the exact opposite. Vista is WORSE than XP in all the changes they
did!
Its good as a toy to poke around a bit, but for work you need something fast
and stable,
no - nonsense = XP

Gesh... you must have been brainwashed or something.. there is no other
explaination.

I've been using it for a couple of weeks now, and am quite happy with it.
Had to go back to XP the other day because I couldn't get the Cisco VPN
software to work properly (new version available from Cisco, but our IT
department hasn't got it yet), and even my Outlook Web Access doesn't work
properly for some reason (just shows a red X where the message is, so I'm
assuming it's an ActiveX control issue). And I can't install my TV Tuner
card, or it locks up on boot-up. Oh yeah, and I'm missing UltraMon; I wish
they would have included better multiple monitor support right in Vista.
Even though VS2005 and SQL Server 2005 aren't "supported" in their current
versions, they're working fine on my machine, so my development work hasn't
been impacted.

All in all, I'm content with the upgrade. It hasn't exactly changed my
life, or really improved the way I use my computer, but it hasn't made it
any worse, either. I'm expecting that most of the issues I'm experiencing
will be resolved before the general release.

SO nothing works and you are happy? Lol

You remind me of Colin..

By they way there is an update for ultramon that works with vista very well
(including having white text on the secondary toolbars)

You do better than others I've seen :)

*YAWN* The link is for all you MTVers who think life is a cartoon and have
to have everything animated and looking like an episode of South Park.
Me...I use my computer to do real things in the real world, and I don't need
3D spinning desktops and animated widgets and way too much eyecandy to get
there. If you want eyecandy, I guess you'd like it. All dressed up with no
place to go...

You are a contrary squared according to your logic. (risen in the power of
2)

Don't give me the facts, give the the truth, the facts keep changing. Your
facts are that vista is new and shiny and you are thrilled by it because its
new. The truth is that it sucks.

I am speaking the truth, you can call it what you like, but that does not
change it.

Of course you are free to make mistakes.. but perhaps you will learn with
time.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish with your constant rants about
Vista? I think everyone in this ng already gets your point that you
don't like Vista but beyond that you appear to be fixated and totally
consumed by Vista or else you're suffering from some delusional idea
that you're going to change the minds of others concerning Vista which
is highly unlikely.
