And the question remains, what happens if you don't enter a PK for the
initial install? Are you forced to enter a PK to install or will you have
the option to enter it after the system is completly loaded.

I guess it would install, you would have to select a version from the list.
But then you would not be able to enter an upgrade product key after
installing, only a full version key.

Thanks for clarifying where that was!

I don't doubt that it will be the same for all the full retail editions and
not just Ultimate. Darrel is conservative in his answers. I am interested
the contents of the upgrade retail edition boxes. I think it might be a
mistake to put the x64 dvd's in the ue boxes.

That sounds right. There isn't any difference in the dvd's themselves. One
could use a full edition pk with a dvd from an upgrade edition box. I have
used a full retail pk with an MSDN dvd. The pk is everything.

Certainly agree.

That was in the X64 newsgroup, I believe. Here it is

Hello Colin,
I stand corrected Colin you are correct. It does appear they will ship
both 32-bit and 64-bit DVDs in the same box at least for Windows
Ultimate.
Thanks,
