Visioneer Strobe XP 200

I have reloaded the program Visioneer 9 twice and it works
for a time. Then, when an item is scanned in, it makes 84
copies of nothing but an icon that cannot be opened for
each one. I have gone into registry and eliminated all
references to Visioneer, Twain, Paperport and ScanSoft.
Before I reload it again, does anyone have any ideas?

A couple of questions you should be asking yourself:

1. Is the Visioneer driver signed? (When you install it, does a dialog come
up telling you the driver you are installing is not signed - and you usually
press the Continue button)? (If the driver is not signed, it means Visioneer
didn't bother to test the driver using Microsoft's tests to ensure the
device would work well w/XP.)
2. Does the scanner come with a WIA scanner driver, or just a TWAIN driver?
3. Does Visioneer have any driver updates for the device up on their web
site?
