Virtual Memory too low

I have Microsoft AntiSpyware Version 1.0.615 installed on a Microsoft Server
2000 Standard w/ 4GB of memory. We've noticed every morning a "virtual
memory is too low" warning. I traced it to the AntiSpyware program via Event
Viewer. We changed the schedule to 9pm thinking it was pulling too much
while the tape backup was running, but I still get the error (now at 9pm
instead of 2am). We've turned off the auto spyware scan and that has solved
the problem.

Task manager shows that we average around 3-3.5GB out of 4GB memory during
the day. The schedule spyware scan was causing the peak memory to go clear
up to 6.9GB of virtual memory!! The system averages a load of 10 TS users.

Virtual memory has nothing to do with computer memory (maybe a little).
Windows uses space on the hard drive to act as memory. For Windows Xp (don't
know about server 2000) you can change the amount of virtual memory.

Right click "My Computer" --> Properties --> Advanced --> Settings
(preformance)
--> Advanced --> click change on the bottom --> increase the amount of
virtual memory

If you don't have a mass amount of hard drive space I recommend not doing
this but instead get rid of unused startup programs

If all fails I think you will be ok deleting MAS

Well if it's not the 64bit version then surely he'll be limited to 4GB
of addressable RAM that might be the problem?

Chad - there's not much we can say about this. The scan can leam memory
when certain malware is found which isn't cleanable by the current
product--one situation where this happens is when a registry entry has
permission set such that even an administrator doesn't have access to the
object without taking ownership.

Beta1, as you may recall is clearly labelled as not suitable for production
equipment.

Beta2 is expected to be out before the end of the year, but if this issue is
causing an issue that you can't work around, uninstalling is probably the
right course of action.
