I keep getting messages pop up on my Vista 32bit machine informing me to
close some programs as I have low memory, I'm not running much, I increased
the mem to 4GB and I get the same issue, the eventlog says:

Log Name: System
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Resource-Exhaustion-Detector
Date: 13/12/2008 9:39:02 AM
Event ID: 2004
Task Category: Resource Exhaustion Diagnosis Events
Level: Warning
Keywords: Events related to exhaustion of system commit limit (virtual
memory).
User: SYSTEM
Computer: ABC123
Description:
Windows successfully diagnosed a low virtual memory condition. The following
programs consumed the most virtual memory: MediaServer.exe (2404) consumed
209510400 bytes, and svchost.exe (1216) consumed 108982272 bytes.

Anyone any ideas?

Ignore me, fixed, Vista didn't have a pagefile setup at all, it said 0, why I
don't know!

Though the error can be caused by several factors, most of the time the hard
drive is running out of space. If you are using MediaServer, it's likely
that you are downloading a large amount of music or video, and you are
simply out of hard drive space. One way to keep up with that problem is to
periodically run the Disk Cleanup tool to remove temporary files.

You have just provided a practical demonstration of what can
happen with no pagefile, for those who say a pagefile is not
needed with 4GB of RAM.

Those messages will come if a system has 16GB of RAM.

Some programs just NEED to use a page file.
