VIA 4in1 driver question

Hawkeye

I have built a few machines in the past few years and just finished
building an A8V machine. So here is my situation.

I have the system up and running and did not install the 4in1 drivers
as per suggestion from another person i know that builds systems.

The windows device manager isnt indicating that there are and issues
from a lack of software installation so I assume i have a fully
functioning system.

So why install VIA 4in1's ?

What do I gain by installing them?

Some miscellaneous thoughts, in whatever order.
.... you might find more devices after you install the VIA 4in1
drivers
.... if it isn't broke, don't fix it
.... maybe you can install the VIA 4in1 drivers at any later time
.... if you really want a perfect installation (given Windows), buy a
disk manager so you can do the installation incrementally

You do not need the drivers. We have four 98SE systems in our house, and
we have never installed the drivers.

The 4in1 drivers are written to take advantage of features specific to
the chipset on your motherboard. The drivers installed by Windows are
generic and while the 4in1 drivers are not 100% necessary, I would not
say that "You don't need them". If you want the most performance out
of your PC, install the appropriate 4in1 driver for your system. With
AMD based boards anything prior to the KT4 chipset should use the 4.43
drivers. The Hyperion drivers don't run well on the older chipsets.
