VGA Silencer Numbers

I might have asked this before, but can you 9700 PRO users who have modded
with a VGA silencer post your core and memory numbers? I just installed one
and I'm really not impressed at all.

My core maxes out at around 355 and my memory around 333. This is not an
improvement from stock cooling. Is it possible I installed it wrong? I had a
hard time getting the old thermal pad off the cpu, I left a substantial
portion of it on there. Should I take the cooler off and scrape the goop and
pad off and start over? What is the best way to get that pad off--it is the
yellow kind.

Use acetone, finger nail polish remover, to get goop off. I put a lot of
thermal paste on and cranked it down. i am at 364.5 core and 351 Mem but I
could go higher. The best thing about cooler is the noise reduction and it
hardly gets hot.

Hi,
AFAIK the VGA silencer doesn't help your memory run cooler, just the GPU.
You would need some TweakMonster BGA ramsinks for that. . . . .Also you need
to fully remove the old thermal compound, really clean, then apply a fresh
layer of your fave HS compound and carefully construct the beast!

Absolutely agree. I managed *eventually* to get all the old gunge off - it
was a real pain.

But now I can run my 9700 Pro at 410 ~ 415 MHz core. To be fair, ATITOOL
detects errors above about 405, but I can game and 3dmark at 410+ without
artefacts or lockups.

Chip.
