usb mouse not recognised

I have thre usb mice which my sony tr2mp laptop using
winxp professional doesnt recognise, can anyone offer any
suggestions toresolve the problem?
Mice are primax rollerball, new belkin mini wireless
optical mouse and frogmouse by mouse revolution. Am I
best scrapping them and going for a bluetooth mouse?

You may need to enable USB Mouse in the BIOS. I highly recommend
BlueTooth mice. They are absolutely wonderful. These should all be
plug and play devices (except maybe the Belkin Wireless). Did any of
them come with software or drivers to install? Also, have you tried
different ports or make sure your chipset drivers are up-to-date? Make
sure that the USB ports even work for other products, etc.
