I am having USB 2.0 probs with Asrock K7S8X-E+ on board USB2.0 ports
with XP SP1 + 822603 patch - usual 'HI-SPEED device plugged into
non-HI-SPEED hub errors' !
Motherboard is Asrock K7S8X-E+ (SiS chipset) which has 8 USB 2.0 ports
(6 on rear panel, 2 via jumpers) PC was built from new parts in August
2004.
Windows XP Home installed, with SP1
ASRock Motherboard drivers CD says use XP drivers for USB 2.0 ,and
Asrock website only lists drivers for 98/ME not for XP.
Problem is that when I plug in USB 2.0 device (ie my USB 2.0 Memory
Card Reader) I get error "HI-SPEED USB Device Plugged into
non-HI-SPEED USB HUB"
If I click the help message I get a window saying "The hubs shown in
bold type have free ports that can support the HI-SPEED USB device."
- SiS PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller
- USB Root Hub (8 Ports)
- Unused Port
- Unused Port
(.. repeated for 8 ports)
This to me suggests that my only hub and all ports ARE USB2.0, so why
the first error message ??
I have searched Microsoft site and found:
KB article 312370 relating to USB2.0 problems due to XP originally
lacking support for EHCI Host controllers, and I have installed hotfix
WindowsXP-KB822603 for this.
KB article 329632 and have confirmed that the USB2.0 drivers I am
using our later than the Aug02 versions they specify for USB2.0
support.
I have also deleted in Device Manager all the USB controller, hub and
ports and rebooted to force XP to re-detect these and instal its
drivers automatically and this has made no difference either.
I have searched Google and various Forums and cannot find any solution
to this other than those failed attempts above, any idea's ?
