update KB867801 keeps repeating

Martin Glodde

I keep getting notice that a certain security update for IE6 needs to be
installed (KB867801). At first, it came in a group of some other
updates, but those all succeeded. I restarted my computer. Since then,
the update notification that KB867801 needs to get installed keeps
popping up. I always get the message that the update succeeded (no
restart needed), but within 5 min, the notice pops up again. Restarting
my computer after installing the update didn't help.
Any idea what I can do?

Thanks,
Martin

Just wanted to "stop in" and say that I have a computer (w2k pro) that is
exhibiting the same thing. install the update but no reboot and a short
time later I'm prompted to install it again.

Just wanted to note that I am experiencing the same problem with KB832894
(Cum update for IE 6 SP1). The file that downloads was issued by Microsoft
in 2004.

Same problem. Install it, reboot and all appears to be fine. I use
IE/Tools/Windows Update to check to see if it "registered" and WU lists no
updates. However, it will appear in the auto-update and has been installed 4
times. Any suggestions as to what would resolve this would be appreciated
greatly.

Have you tried using Dial-A-Fix to clear out the windows updates folder?
It usually corrects issues with windows update itself and sometimes,
updates not fully installing.

Dial-a-fix can be found here:
