Update failed

....followed by this:

Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer for Windows XP Service Pack
2 (KB834707)
It also fails when I try the manual install. What's wrong?

Hi, I don't know how it fails (re-boot), lock-up? Freeze? When and where
during install? You could read my post today concerning SP2 issues I've
encountered on a "black-listed" processor...

After downloading the updates for XPSP2, sometime during the installation
process I get the message "installation failed." This occurs during auto or
manual updating and no error number is given. Thanks,
