Windows XP update question and problem

Hi, I installed SP2 a few days ago. Everything is normal and working. No
slow downs or hang ups. However, I just received a bulletin on 6 updates. I
dloaded them but they failed to install. I tried it several times. There is
no explanation on why they failed. The ones that failed are these:
Critical Update for Office XP on Windows XP Service Pack 2 (KB885884)
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer for Windows XP Service Pack
2 (KB834707)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB873339)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB885835)
Critical Update for Windows XP (KB886185)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB885836)
I've tried everything I can think of to no avail. Can someone tell me why
they won't install????
Thanks, Catt

Do you have Office XP installed, and did you check in Add/Remove for
references to the updates you listed.?

Neal,
It can take minutes to a few days to receive a reply on peer support
newsgroups like the Microsoft public newsgroups. If you set up a
newsreader, you can get a much better feel for the usefulness of the peer
support newsgroups. See my signature for some basic tips on setting up OE
[ Outlook Explorer ] and links to other alternative newsreaders.

After re-reading your reply I went to my add/remove programs to see about the
updates. On arrival I noticed that all of the updates I did in the past are
now gone! The only update that is shown is the SP2. I sure as hell did not
delete them so what is going on here? Is this common? Did MS delete all of
the updates?

The updates you did before installing SP2 are part of SP2 and are therefor
no longer listed separately.

Thanks, but what about the new updates that won't install? Why did they fail?
Could you address that?

Go to Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs.
Make sure Show Updates is checked.
Scroll down and see if they are listed under Windows Updates.
If so, see
