unwanted link on IE6. HELP

J

Jim

With IE6 open, when I right-click my mouse over the
central area, a pop-up menu appears. On that menu appears
a link to a porn website.

I have looked for ways to remove it but without success.
If I left, or right, click on it, it takes me to a porn
web page. I am most concerned that my children don't find
and follow the link. Any assistance would be greatly
appreciated. HELP!

NB It also appears in other menus, ie. if I right-click
over the Windows START button, this appears on the pop-up
menu:
javascript:document.location='http://........com/freegalle
ries.htm';}
(offensive word deleted). I am unable to remove this
either.

Jim,
To remove an entry from the IE context menu, run regedit and navigate to
this key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Internet Explorer\ MenuExt]

Your entry will be a subkey of that key. Select the MenuExt key and export
it (just to be safe) Then select the unwanted subkey and delete it.

But... you probably have other unwanted files and programs on your computer.

Download, install, *update* and run these two programs:
Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Spybot from http://security.kolla.de/
