unregmp2.exe error while repairing XP....

Hi,

While repairing an OEM XP Home installation with a retail
upgrade CD I have, I get this error message with 13
minutes left in the installation process.

The exact message is "The procedure entry point GetIUMS
could not be located in the .DLL library MSDART.DLL"

I can't get past this dialogue box to finish the repair!

It occurs during the 'registering components' phase so I
assume it has to do with me entering the upgrade product
key instead of my OEM key (wherever it is!)

Any ideas??

Thanks!

Try the install again. When the error comes up hit shift and F10 at teh same time. This will bring up a command prompt
In the command prompt type in taskmgr.exe
Go to the Proccesses Tab
Find unregmp2.exe in the list and highlight it
Then click on the end proccess button. Say yes to the confirmation prompt
Close the Task Manager
Type exit into the command prompt and hit enter
Now try to get past the error message.

Thanks Ron!

I was able to get past that error and finish the XP
repair, but now I'm having other problems, specifically I
can't manually setup a DSL internet connection (with
username and password) under the internet connection
wizard. The choice I need is greyed out, just after the
dialogue box "How do you wish to setup your connection?"
I prompt manually and the top 2 choices (1 I need) is
greyed out.

Also, when I right click My Computer I get a rundllexe.32
error -- entry point not found <some more text I didn't
write down> in winsta.dll.

Any thoughts?

Thanks again!
