reinstall windows xp oem version

Dick

While trying to reinstall my oem windows xp from the CD,
I reach "registering components". The install then stops
(at 13 minutes from finish) with an error
message: "unregmp2.exe - Entry Point Not Found: Procedure
entry point GetIUMS could not be located in dynamikc link
library MSDART.dll".
If I click OK, nothing happens. If I shut PC off and
restart, the install resumes at the beginning of
the "Installing Windows" section and proceeds until the
same error occurs while "registering components". The PC
has XP SP1 installed.

When the problem occurs, press Shift +F10 to bring up the
command prompt. Then type taskmgr.exe in the DOS window
and press Enter. The Task Manager should be started. If
not, try to press C+Shift+ESC. In the Task Manager
program, select the error messsage window in the
application list and click "End Task". In the process
list, terminate the unregmp2.exe program. Exit the DOS
prompt window and resume the installation process.

Google suggests other folk have had same problem...

Example threads where other folk have same problem...

The solution that seems to work for some people is...

Quote: When the error message comes up Hold down your control Key and then
Click the OK button. Keep Clicking until the error goes away.
If that doesn't work, don't hold down the Control Key, just start clicking
the OK button until the error goes away.

Some replies to this suggestion say you need to repeat the above a lot of
times before it works.
