unlock a template

I am using a template that is apparently locked. The text boxes on the
template are all whitefonts but some are shadowed. Anytime I use the button
to insert a textbox the new textbox is shadowed. Even by highlighting inside
the textbox I cannot turn the shadow off. There is also a shadow icon, which
is only there, in the area of the bold and italics icons, on this particular
template.
The only way I've found to work around this is to build a text box in Word
and copy and paste the box into powerpoint . . but this still leaves an issue
with a table I need. I also built the table in Word, but pasting the table
into PP gives a shadowed table. How do I unlock the template and turn the
shadow off?

Which version of PowerPoint do you use? You have to find out, whether a text
shadow or an object shadow has been used.
- Highlight the text and try to remove the shadow with the Text Shadow icon
(symbol shows a "S" with a shadow)
- If this does not work, highlight the whole text box by clicking on its
margin and try to remove the shadow with the Object Shadow icon (a square
with a shadow).

If you managed to remove the shadow, right-click on the text box and use
"Save as default".

The fact that the shadow icon is only there, when you open this
presentation, makes me wonder whether some formatting is done with macros.
Press Alt+F11 to see whether any macros are present and change them, if
necessary.

Best regards,

Thanksfpr your reply.

I am using PowerPoint 2000. The shadowing occures whenever I i nsert a new
text box, although I may not be understanding what you are asking. If I
insert a graphic or anything else (other than a table) there is no shadowing.

There seems to be nothing I can do to remove the shadowing . .by
highlighting the text or the frame . . or anything, nor do I see any macros
in the macro window.
