text boxes have duplicate text

I have a user with PPT 2003 and WinXP. One slide in his presentation has
multiple text boxes. The text appears to have a shadowed effect even though
the shadow option is not turned on. Only 1 slide appears like this however if
a new textbox is created on any slide, the same thing happens. He doesn't
know what version of PPT the presentation was originally created in. Any
ideas how to turn this off???

There are two types of shadowing in PowerPoint.

The text shadow is created from the Font dialog box and your user should
check if this checkbox is checked on the text within new text boxes.

The shape shadow will also shadow text if there is no 'fill' to the shape.
This is set via the Drawing toolbar (usually at the bottom of the edit
screen) and looks like a shadowed box.

Both of these shadows can be set to apply to next textbox defaults. Have
your user select a textbox that is correctly formatted and click on
Format -> Textbox -> and check the 'Default for new objects' in the dialog
box, then OK out of the dialog.
