Automatic format of PowerPoint Text

I am working on a PowerPoint Presentation and the letters in new textboxes
are now shadowed. The box to shadow text in formatting fonts is not
selected. Any suggestions as to how to correct?

Look and see if the text box has Shadow Style applied to it. In your Drawing
toolbar you will find shadow style there.
