turn off white outline in Word Art text box

C

cayce

When I apply bevel and/or drop shadow to a piece of Word Art, PowerPoint 2007
also creates a white outline to the text box. Does anyone know of a way I can
turn this outline off and keep the bevel and drop shadow text effects? The
white box outline is undesirable because of a watermarked background behind
the Word Art. (Format Shape reveals no line, but it is there.)

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi Cayce

I can't repro that here - can you walk me through the exact steps you take?
Also, do you have SP1 or SP2 installed?

You can try looking at the 3D settings, the countour color and size, I think
it is. Or maybe it's the bottom color / bevel size.

Right-click the textbox and choose Format Shape. There's where you can
access the 3D settings. But, as Lucy said, having your repro steps would
make it easier to figure out.

Echo:

It turned out to be the contour color. When I set it back to 0 pt, the white
line disappeared. I recognize why Lucy was asking exactly what I did. THAT
was my problem. I was fiddling with different effects off and on over a
couple days I wasn't able to easily reconstruct what I had done.

THANKS to you both.

And me. Particularly with gradients before I read your article - I sure
could make them ugly and I had no idea how I was doing it!

LOL! I was right there with you! (Which is why I finally wrote that article,
heh.) My problem is, I can't reset the gradient in the Format Shape dialog
after making them all ugly. You have to close down PPT and reopen it to get
the gradient dialog back to normal.
