Uninstalling trial Office XP

I have a new HP DV-2130-US Notebook running under Windows XP Professional.
It came with a 60 day trial version of Office XP 2003, which I uninstalled,
as I wanted to install Office XP 2002, which I already own.
During a call to HP's support line for a wireless issue, they had me do a
Restore to an earlier date, causing the Office XP trial package to be
reinstalled.
Now, when I try to uninstall it again, I get a message stating "This pack
package could not be opened. Verify that the pack package exists and that you
can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a
valid Windows Installer pack package.", preventing the uninstall.
How can I get around this block?

The reason is that the .msi file from the original package is missing.

Suggest you call HP support, and point-out the unacceptability of this
practice. If they supplied the computer as having 'Genuine Microsoft Windows'
then you are entitled to such. A copy of Windows adulterated with trialware
is not the genuine product.
