New Drive Problems

I recently upgraded from an 80 gb drive to a 160 gb drive using the Maxtor
Maxblast 4.0 software.
98% of everything works ok so far

but:

All office 2003 products get a message about reinstalling and selecting the
REPAIR option. The application does go ahead and load after a while.

I put the original office cd in and instead of running the autoinstall, a
window opens showing the contents of the CD.

If I click on setup.exe, it takes off and copies a bunch of files, then
stops with the following message:
"The patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package
exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to
verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package" and the
install stops.

It is the original CD that I used a few years ago to install Office 2003,
however the applications have been updated.

Now what?

TIA

Open Word...
Help --> Detect and Repair...

Try that.

Thanks for the idea. I tried that and the windows installer window popped
up with 'Preparing to Install'. About 30 seconds later, got the same
message shown in the original post.

You may need to integrate the patches into the CD - although that would be
unusual for Office (not the actual integration - that's common - the need
for it) - I think.

Google for "Integrate patches into Office 2003"...

Beyond that you may want to try a Microsoft Office specific newsgroup as
opposed to this one about Windows XP Setup and Deployment. ;-) They might
have better ideas.
