Disk Upgrade Issue

I recently upgraded from an 80 gb drive to a 160 gb drive using the Maxtor
Maxblast 4.0 software. This software does a hardware copy of boot sectors
and all data to the replacement drive.

98% of everything works ok so far

but:

All office 2003 products get a message about reinstalling and selecting the
REPAIR option. The application does go ahead and load after a while.

I put the original office cd in and instead of running the autoinstall, a
window opens showing the contents of the CD.

If I click on setup.exe, it takes off and copies a bunch of files, then
stops with the following message:
"The patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package
exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to
verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package" and the
install stops.

It is the original CD that I used a few years ago to install Office 2003,
however the applications have been updated along the way to be current..

It turns out that every program that used Windows Installer exhibits this
same issue.

Why such a big deal for just installing a larger disk? This must me a
common need as systems get older and drives get cheaper.

Now what?

TIA

The 3rd party software for copying xp almost never work in xp,they do in
older
windows OS...To work correctly, use xps own XCOPY..Simply set the new hd as
slave on the same IDE chain, format the hd,then go to run, type:
XCOPY C:\*.* D:\ /c/h/e/k/r Agree to all in the DOS window, once its
thru,youre
finished, all of C: is on D:,D: being the new hd..Also,if the new is
assigned a diff-
rent letter, then use that letter...Works every time.
